So the holidays are upon us, and that means parties galore!
All your weekends are booked, from intimate family gatherings to reunions with old friends, from late nights at hotel buffets to later nights with beer pong– there’s always a party to go to.
Of course, you want to look your best, but you still want to look you! So I’m going to show you how to do a modest holiday look, perfect for any party!
I got a lot of compliments for this glam party look I created for the FAME Blogspot event last December 2, so I’m going to share the items I used to achieve this low-key festive look, and show you how to recreate it step by Steph! 😉
STEP 1: PRIMER
First off, I start with a primer. I put a pea-size amount on my finger, then slather it all over my face, focusing on my cheeks where the huge pores are. I’ve been using this Porefessional mini for over half a year now, and it still has more to give!
STEP 2: CONCEAL (don’t feel)
Next, I put concealer on blemishes, and on my eyebags, and just gently dab it with a sponge.
(Funny story: I once went to work with just BB cream and eyeshadow, just for the heck of it, and my friend Dan thought I had also put eyeshadow on my eyebags, when in fact, that’s just really how dark my eyebags are. Lesson learned: Never use eyeshadow without putting concealer on the eyebags LOL!)
What I like about this Moonshot concealer is how it’s very portable, and I can just swipe it as the night wears on, and dab it with my fingers, rather than having to bring a sponge for touch-up’s. The clutch is crowded enough with all the other stuff girls need to bring. (You know what I mean.)
STEP 3: set the FOUNDATION
I then dab foundation all over my face, and up to where my jaw meets my neck, until everything looks good and even.
STEP 4: EYESHADOW & EYELINER
Let’s brighten up the eyes with eyeshadow! First you prime it with an eyeshadow primer, so that the eyeshadow will stay on all night long. For the eyeshadows I started off with a red-orange base, then put some brown eyeshadow on the outside edge up to the crease. I line it up with eyeliner, to make my eyes pop, and the eyes are good to go!
Other than the Shopping Bag Makeup Palette being really cute (it’s just like the Sephora Shopping Bag!!!), I like how it gives you a lot of color options, rather than sticking to just one color theme like usual eyeshadow palettes, so it gives you room to experiment like what I did. I usually stick to nude eyeshadows, but hey the holidays always have you trying something new!
STEP 5: EYEBROWS & EYELASHES
Now don’t forget your eyebrows! Personally, I feel that they define your whole look.
I pencil along the shape of my eyebrows, then shade it in (just like how we used to in coloring books!) Because my eyebrows are pretty sparse, I use eyelash mascara on them, and brush it up with an eyebrow brush. Then I use the same mascara on my lashes.
STEP 6: CONTOUR & HIGHLIGHT & BLUSH
We’re almost done! Add some blush to bring life to your face. Brush three swipes of Benetint on your cheeks, then dab it with your fingers.
Now let’s use some contour to make your face smaller, and not make it too obvious you’ve been hopping from one party to another, eating your heart out!
Then, put on some highlight, so you can shine the night away! (It’s matte satin!)
STEP 7: Finish it off with a LIPPIE!
While most girls would go for a bright red lip to finish off a glam look, I finished off mine with a nude lippie! Other than nude being the new “it” lippie color, the main reason is because I don’t want to be conscious about my red lippie partly disappearing as I shamelessly chow down the buffet! With a nude lippie, it’s not obvious, so munch away!
My favorite thing about this gloss wand is that you can change your lippie as you go along– all six colors conveniently size in one stick! (Sephora, you genius!)
So that’s it, and I hope you all liked this little how-to. If you do try out this look, please tag me so I can see! See you in the next step by Steph Yap!
