So it’s been a week into school, and I’ve done absolutely nothing for thesis, and I have 3 weeks to go until the first endorsement. The first endorsement is sort of like the first draft of your thesis, but it’s really important since you only get to pass two drafts (the first and the final endorsement) and then it’s your defense! So basically, I should be starting my diagrams and floor plans right now, instead of blogging. But you know me, ever the procrastinator, ever the hustler. But I’m writing this post right now as a pledge to productivity.
People don’t believe me when I say I literally have nothing on my thesis. I haven’t touched my book since the last semester. True, one of my friends pointed out that I spent my vacation on my site, which is to say I have done something. But I just haven’t translated all those experiences and photos into anything substantial for the book. So zero results still equates to zero thesis progress.
My friend just texted me, “Kamusta na plans mo?” Because she knew I wasn’t at my consultation. To which I replied, “Parang love life mo. Nasa isip lang. HAHAHA.”
The problem with me is that I want do so many things, and a lot of them aren’t thesis-related at all. So coinciding with my pledge to productivity, I thought to write them all down and save them for another day (the day after thesis lol) like a messgae-in-a-bottle kind of thing. I guess this is my way to get these ideas out of my head, so I can really start thinking about my thesis. Also, written (blogged) goals are all the more likely to come true
These are the things I promise to do after my thesis, and not think about anymore:
1.) Make a video with my friends. Goodbye video. Awwwww.
I have this solid concept in my mind. I just hope I can convince my friends to do it. (And actually finish it! HAHA!)
2.) Update my resume and portfolio.
Because I will be doing a lot of awesome stuff this year. I just know it. And my future bosses need to know it too lolz.
3.) The Stefunny Lookbook / #StephInStyle Diary / Steph’s Closet
I haven’t really decided on what to call it, but basically I just want to have this online closet/ style diary kind of thing wherein I save all my favorite outfits so I can have an inventory, and at the same time, a lookbook wherein I can get ootd’s on the go HAHA! (I already did an inventory of all my shoes last, last Christmas. I drew a cartoon version of each pair and pasted it on the box hehe!)
I was inspired by this app wherein you take photos of your clothes and just mix and match them according to your inventory (you can even label it if it’s in the wash!) But what I’m planning to do is the more hassle version of that, which is take a photo of me wearing every single piece (instead of just taking photos of just the clothes.) Because I believe each piece fits a person differently you know? And while I’ll be doing that, I’ll be cleaning out the stuff i don’t wear to sell. So yeah, two birds with one stone, which brings us to…
4.) Sell my pre-loved stuff
There ar two things I can get from selling my stuff: more space and more money–which are two things I need.
5.) Have my clothes tailored.
Maybe you wouldn’t notice if you don’t see me every day, but I’ve actually lost weight for the past few months. I’ve currently lost 15 lbs and 3 inches since September 2015, and the sad part of this is that my fave pair of Levi’s don’t fit me anymore! They’re too loose!! But I have too many good trousers to just sell, so instead I’ll have them readjusted to whatever my size will be in May. This is also why I’ve been telling myself not to buy jeans now. I’ll buy when I’ve reached my fitness goal! Ooooh goal with a goodie! My prize for me is shopping yay! (Hopefully the money I’ll be using here will come from my sales in #3.)
6.) Organize all my arki stuff and papers.
I’m a very, very sentimental person. I keep the most useless of stuff, because they hold so much memories for me. (I still have the F.L.A.M.E. prediction that I was gonna end up with my 5th grade crush. That’s how senti I am.) But as I will (hopefully) close a chapter in my life, I have to let my some things go–like my test papers, and some plates. Hello, space.
7.) Paint my old white sneakers.
I bought a cheap pair of white sneakers a while back, and the toe part of the shoe kinda got weirdly scrunched up after it was washed. So I’m planning to cover that with some acrylic paint. Breathe new life into old things, that’s what they say.
8.) Paint my stained bucket bag.
New life into old things^
9.) Finally finish my Kapayapaan film.
A while back, I filmed something only using my Galaxy Note Edge. It was supposed to be for a phone videography competition, but I didn’t get to finish it on time due to school stuff. I really would like to finish it though, because the footage was surprisingly good for a phone camera. And that film has some sentimentality to it, because it was random shots of my college friends.
10.) Finish that portrait video.
Last year I shot a little something, and we had too many good footage of my friend that wasn’t used in the video for the competition. I’m going to compile that, and hopefully, it will be done in time for her birthday. Yay!
11.) Finish writing those 2 zombie screenplays of totally different genres.
Future me, you know what I’m talking about. And you better get those done before the end of year. ‘Cuz once you get that 8-5 job… you’ll have so much less time and energy and creativity for your weird film projects.
12.) Finish that zombie comic project with your cousins.
No, I do not have a fetish for zombies. I don’t even watch the Walking Dead. I just happen to have 3 stories in my head that involve the undead. Because that’s what makes you think about life, right? Death, and the things in between? (Naks, deep.)
13.) Put subtitles in Terminal* and maybe show it to the world?!?!
Maybe the world will hate my film. But hey, at least I can say it won some awards, and that counts for something. I think….
*Terminal was a no-budget film I made with my friends for Sine Tomasino 2015. It won Best Screenplay, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Editing, and even Audience Choice– I wrote and directed it and co-edited with my good friend Carlos.
14.) Launch your fashion line.
Hurry! Before someone else swoops in with the same idea that combines chicness and comfort and accessibility in the form of one of your favorite wardrobe staples. (Sorry, that’s all I can give out now. It’s top secret lolz)
15.) Direct the photoshoot and videoshoot of #14.
Of course. I already have some friends in mind for the project muahahahaha!
16.) Update the blog with all my adventures within the past 3 months.
Duh, that goes without saying. HAHA.
Whew! I did not realize that these little ideas in my head would amount to 16 items. HAHA (Uyyy, 16 for 2016! Promise, di ko yun sinadya haha!) But whoo! Challenge Accepted, Stephanie of January 26, 2016. You’re going to finsish all these and more by the end of the year, future Stephanie.
And now, I must do my thesis.
Starting tomorrow, I pledge to devote 5-10 hours per day for my thesis (except of Sunday’s), and to try to not get distracted by social media and food and random dancing too much (Maybe just 1-2 hours of procrastination per day?). I vow to give the world the best thesis I can create, as it will be one of the markers of my creativity in existence. I, Stephanie Yap, pledge this pledge with the World Wide Web as my witness. And I will do everything in my power to fulfill this pledge.
(Pray for my productivity and success huhu!) See you guys in May!
